Our client reached out to M.O.S. Wall Construction to see if we could help with a full overhaul of their yard. They needed design and construction of their retaining walls, fencing, concreting, and driveways across the entire site, and wanted to go with one single company rather their trying to site manage five different contractors. We worked closely with the client to ensure that their vision was supported in the final design.
The long retaining wall next to the driveway at one side of the premises had to be engineered as it was over one metre in height, and the neighbour’s swimming pool was very close to the wall on the other side. Work like this can impact the neighbour’s premises too, so one of the focuses for M.O.S. is to liaise with all parties and make sure that our clients have a positive experience with their neighbours when doing major works.
A lot of demolition work had to be done, including ripping out the old walls and fencing. They were replaced with stylish concrete sleepers, and the fencing used in the final design was a striking mix of timber along the back fence, and Colorbond alongside the driveway. The driveway itself was made to 150mm deep rather than the standard 100-120mm to better cope with multiple heavier vehicles, and was created with channel drains inserted along the edge of the wall to cope with water runoff.
The other side of the property previously had a large lawn flowing down into a small, unfinished ledge. This was completed with a smaller retaining wall which better defined the space and gave security to passing foot traffic, and a pathway that ran down to the edge of the property to provide ingress and egress, and to make the space more usable.
The client was thrilled with the result, which has given her home a new lease on life, added street appeal, and made a safer space for everyone.
