This was a very complex job. The existing wall was on a very bad lean, and our customer wanted it demolished and a new concrete sleeper wall installed. It was next to a public walkway to the side and rear of the property, and the house was only 800mm away from the existing structure. There were pedestrian walkways surrounding the property, council trees not far away, gas utilities coming out of the side wall behind the fence, and water pipes underneath the ground. Each of these things provided extra concern and a high level of difficulty.
M.O.S. demolished the wall by cutting it with large demo saws into large squares of 1500 x 1500mm. These were then dropped and cut into smaller sizes so the excavator could lift them into the bins. A 1.7 ton excavator then ran the blocks to the bins, and the 5 ton excavator with the rock breaker was used to break up the foundations.
Overall it took eight working days, but was completed with no damage to the house, utilities, pipes, trees or surrounding pathways, and our customer was over the moon with the finished product.
